Got mobile home roof leaks? RV Roof magic is your Insurance…!!

Why Do Mobile home Roofs Leak? This is most common question ask by the RVers. Mobile home roof leaks are something bound to happen so in order to better deal with them one should be able to identify the common culprits.

Snow and rain are two major culprits of mobile home roof leaks. Any snow on the RV roof top will just sit and melt and the melted snow in the form of water will seep into the roof if the roof is damaged or not properly protected. Flying debris and low hanging tress branches can also create punctures and holes in the RV roof which allows the rain and water to seep into the roof. It is advisable to keep the trees trimmed and keep your RV under storage.

The Second most common cause of RV roof leaks is aging. As RVs become old they start to present themselves with moisture issues caused by condensation and improper ventilation. When this happens visit the RV service station and get it checked.

The third most common reason of RV roof leaks is material breakdown and improper installation. The older the RV is the greater the chance that its roof coating is cracked or stretched. Recoating the RV after five or more years is recommended way to avoid water leaks.

Identifying RV Leaks

If you see sun light peeking through the ceiling than its likely that water can also get through as well. Also dark spots in the ceiling, sagging ceiling and peeling and cracking on the walls and panels, typically indicates that you’re dealing with a roof leak. So its best to climb up on the RV roof, make sure your RV supports your weight and if not then place some sheets of plywood down onto your roof before stepping on it. The plywood helps to better distribute and support your weight.

Repairing Leaks

One of the best ways to fix a leaking RV or mobile home roof is by using a quality roof coating or a comparable roof sealant that provides both repair and protection. If your RV has a rubber roof than you can use a rubber sealer to fill any cracks or punctures. If the leaks happened are beyond your DIY expertise than its better to seek professional help to perform the required repairs.

Post Covid-19 much is unknown at this point, other than once the pandemic is over most RV parks may be completely overrun by stir-crazy RVers hoping to get away from it all and salvage what’s left of 2020. So get your RV gear and perform RV maintenance before you are left behind.
